Video: 50 Talks About BISD

via MTV
50 said that just because he's got a song with a crooning chorus doesn't mean he's abandoned a street edge for his upcoming Before I Self Destruct LP.
"Not particularly his song, but the entire project... I meant for it to be a little harder and what I fell in love with about hip-hop and within hip-hop," Fif said on the song's video set Saturday. "I accomplished it. Before I Self Destruct is absolutely harder than Get Rich or Die Tryin' or other projects in between. The Massacre had some real aggressive content on it, but there were other things I wanted to do, like 'Ryder Music', 'Baltimore Love Thing', 'Build You Up', featuring Jamie Foxx. This project [Before I Self Destruct], I kept all of those things out of it. I just made it what I wanted it to be. This album is my album right now. It's like the prequel to Get Rich- the things I missed on that project."

"Taking My Ball" Tonight On Shade 45

EminemIn an earlier post, we talked about the new Eminem song "Taking My Ball" releasing today.
At 6pm ET tonight, Eminem's new track "Taking My Ball" will be debuted on Shade 45 so be sure to tune in so you don't miss it.

BISD Pushed Back.. Again

50 cent's upcoming album Before I Self Destruct has been pushed back.. again. The album is now set to drop November 23rd.

With this new release date 50's album will be competing with Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna. When 50 was asked about how he felt releasing his album the same week as those artists, he said he didn't see them as competition.
"I guess I should be devastated that I'm up against Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears?...This is a great competition: you mean to tell me I get the chance to go into a battle against pop singers?...I dont see myself in competition with artists that aren't even in the same genre... could you find a rapper for me to compete with please? Now I just gotta fight Justin? I'm gonna fight him and kick his ass!"

Beats365: The Solution?

Via : GoArticles.com
"With so many music production and beat making programs out on the web today who knows what programs are good and which programs are trash anymore. Most "beat-sites" have a monthly fee or charge by the song and to be honest, most of the material is lack-luster and disappointing. Some of them are even just selling stolen beats or beats they have no rights over, which is a complete waste of your time and money!
After trying more then 2 handfuls of programs and services, I found most left me unfulfilled and wanting more for my money. Beats 365 did not however. There is a plethora of sounds, instrumentals, and beats from 39 different styles to choose from and and new material is added daily! With the existing tracks and the amount of great beats and sounds constantly being added, the amount of fresh, royalty-free material offered definitely isn't lacking.
In Conclusion: Compared to Beats365, the competition seems to come up short in every way. With Beats365 there is no fee per song or month and semi-daily updates of good, usable material. Which, according to the website gives you 100,000+ beats right at your finger tips. I would recommend Beats365 to anyone in the market for any amount great beats, whether it be a single instrumental or a mixtape's worth of material."

Video: Dr. Dre Invites Jay-Z To Rap On Detox

via MTV

Songs that leaked from Dr. Dre’s Detox recording sessions earlier this year revealed that Nas and R. Kelly are among the artists in consideration to appear on the long-awaited opus. And T.I., Lil Wayne and Drake are among the MCs believed to be ghost-writing for the album.
But if Dre gets his way, a certain renowned Brooklyn rhymesmith will be pulling double-duty on Detox, both writing and delivering a guest verse.

“Well, actually, Jay-Z’s just been in the studio doing some writing,” Dre told MTV News on Friday while promoting his new Beats By Dre/HP notebook collaboration. “Hopefully I’ll get him to perform on the record. Jay, come holler!”
Detox is the follow-up to Dre’s 2001 album and will complete the trilogy that began with 1992’s The Chronic.

In May, a snippet of a Detox track was released on a Dr. Pepper commercial that features Dre. The song, tentatively titled “Shit Popped Off,” features production similar to a track that leaked in February with Tip referring Dre’s vocals. “It’s the D.R. … Made the West side worldwide, no PR/ Gangsta-rap God, I’m the end-all, be-all/ California love from the Bloods to the C-Dogs.”
Earlier this month, Dre told ABC News Dre revealed he’d like to finally put the finishing touches on Detox by the end of this year in time for a 2010 release. “Hopefully, I’ll get it done at the end of this year, and we can hear it next year,” the normally press-shy producer said.

Eminem Speaks On Relapse 2

Via MTV
If Relapse marked the return of Slim Shady and his outrageous rhymes, then the sequel is shaping up to be Marshall Mathers' turn back in the spotlight.
In an interview on his Shade 45 satellite-radio station Tuesday night, Eminem explained the concept behind the forthcoming Relapse 2.
"[The album] is gonna be a lot different than people expect," Eminem told DJ Tony Touch. "As far as the contrast from the last album to this one, I got a couple of tracks with [D12's] Mr. Porter, two tracks with him so far. Four, possibly five with Just Blaze. The overall basis of this record, I went back to songs that are more emotionally driven. The last record I made, I think I was concentrating more on spitting. On this album, I feel like there's some of that, but I went back to songs with [feelings] to them as opposed to just rap records."
During the recording of Relapse, Eminem admitted he suffered from writer's block at times, and to return to form, he revisited his earlier style of rhyme that helped him earn his alter ego. Songs like "Insane" and "Underground" showcased his rapid-fire flow and outrageous lines. "Dre, I'm down here, under the ground, dig me up/ Broken tibias, fibias, yeah, fix me up," he rapped on "Underground."
"I had to get it all out of my system," Em said of the lyrical urgency behind Relapse. "I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it again."
Once the Detroit MC broke free from his struggles with the pen, he went on to record three albums' worth of material. He and his camp decided to whittle the songs down to two projects. In April, the rapper announced that Relapse 2 was done before the first one even arrived. He said during the mixing process, new tracks might be added.
Recently, he's raised his profile with a guest verse on Drake's "Forever," also featuring Kanye West and Lil Wayne. His standout turn on the track increased anticipation for his next album. On "Forever," Eminem hearkened back to the "8 Mile" style that endeared him to fans with his personal tales.
The focus on polishing the second album, though, has consumed Eminem so much that he's only made scattered appearances since Relapse debuted in May. Once Relapse 2 arrives, tentatively later this year, Eminem said he'll decide then whether to go on tour.
"During the process of me getting sober and starting to record again like I used to, I got so excited about making music again that I wanted to concentrate [just] on that," he said. "I started recording so many records that we thought about putting out two albums. Then that became my motivation. I wanted to stay grinding and keep making music. But the time I got engulfed in [Relapse 2], it just kind of worked out this way, where I wanted to fall back from live performances for right now and concentrate on making the best music I could make. After this record comes out, we'll see what happens from there."

Lil Wayne and JD speak on Eminem's Absence From Hottest MC List

Lil Wayne - "Eminem [is not on the list]? Who else is on the list? Gucci who? Gucci ManeGucci Mane was on the list and Eminem wasn't on it? [laughs] Shout-out my n*gga Gucci," Wayne told Tim Westwood. Reacting to Jay-Z being number one, Lil Wayne joked around. "Uhm, who's number one?," Wayne asked radio personality Tim Westwood in an interview. "Jay-Z? Nah, that's cool [me being at number two.] That's cool. That's okay, I thought Drake was gonna be number one."

JD (aka Jermaine Dupre) took to his blog last week to talk about Eminem being left out. "TODAYS QUESTION IS ABOUT THE MTV HOT MCs LIST. MY QUESTION IS HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT EMINEM NOT MAKING IT? I PERSONALLY THINK THE LIST JUST LOST ITS CREDIBILITY BY NOT INCLUDING HIM. NOT ONLY DID HE MAKE A ALBUM THIS YEAR BUT THAT ALBUM OUT SOLD 75 PERCENT OF EVERYBODY ON THE LIST .SERGE WAS TRYING TO EXPLAIN TO ME THE LIST AND WHY THIS HAPPENED BUT TO ME THIS IS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE KEEP SAYING HIPHOP IS DEAD," JD wrote.

Joe Budden Talks About Shady/Slaughterhouse Deal

In a recent interview, Joe Budden discussed the rumor's of Slaughterhouse signing to Shady Records and more .

“I don’t know what you mean ’speak on it,’ [laughs] I hope it happens!,” Budden told radio personality Jessie Maguire in an interview. “I would be happy, happy as could be. [laughs] No man, the rumors have been going around and it seems to be the number one question as far as Slaughterhouse goes, like I said, I’m hopeful that it will happen. I would like for it to happen, uhm, but is it a definite? Is it confirmed? Is it 100 percent in stone? No, not at all. I mean, until that happens, I been in this industry a long time, and I’m sure aspiring artists can attain to this also, a lot of people make promises and a lot of people sell you dreams and often at times, things look extremely hopeful and they turn out to be the exact opposite. So I’ve learned to prepare for the worst and expect the best. But I certainly hope it takes place. I hope it goes down, I think a move like that would be a monument for hip-hop and not only that, there seems to be a lot of artists getting with that whole unity thing, instead of destroying one another.”

Snoop Dogg talks about Dr.Dre and The Game Reconciliation

Jay-Z's Acceptance Speech

Jay-Z was named 'Hottest MC' and recently wrote a letter to MTV News, reacting to his latest accolade of Hottest MC in the Game.

“MTV, Thanx for this nod of appreciation,” Jay wrote. “Although I don’t strive to be ‘hot’ for any particular year, I thank you for the acknowledgment. My whole goal is to be recognized as the best ever. I created the term ‘best rapper alive’ as a sign of respect to my fallen comrades (Biggie and Tupac). I believe I’ve allowed a significant grace period, and I believe I would not be respecting myself if being the absolute best was not my goal, and that’s why I continue to push myself until exhaustion … salute.

“Sidebar: Kanye moment if I may … Eminem?!?! I think you do the credibility of this list a disservice if you don’t thoroughly explain his omission,” Jay continued. “As of this second he has the highest selling rap album of the year and a scene stealing verse on the best ‘posse’ cut of the year . (*Hands mic back to Taylor Swift … and nobody was harmed, I apologize in advance.)”

Rick Ross, who finished at #5, said no one is more deserving of the top spot than Jay.

“I most definitely agree with Jay-Z being the Hottest MC,” Ross said. “He’s affected the top five directly or indirectly. He signed Kanye West. He signed me to Def Jam. He influenced Lil Wayne and co-signed Drake. Jay most definitely has had the biggest impact on the game and the culture.”

Ross was extremely pleased with his own ranking. “It’s an honor to be in the top five,” he said. “It’s a monumental moment. I remember always watching ‘Yo! MTV Raps’ and seeing Fab Five Freddy. The Hottest MCs list carries on in the tradition of representing real hip-hop. I think the list was great. Everybody on there is real competitive. It’s always great to get recognized for your accomplishments. Each year, I sit down and watch the debates and the rankings. MTV is really on point.”

On Sunday, Drake said being #3 was an extreme honor. “I’m at such an early stage in my career,” Drizzy said via phone. “I’m still learning from all these MCs that are on the list. Personally, I’m honored to be anywhere. There’s no number where I think I should be. I’m not gonna sit here and be like ‘3!’ It’s just an honor for MTV to even bring up my name. That’s crazy. That’s really crazy, man. That’s something to celebrate. We gotta celebrate tonight. I don’t mind being #3.”
